About Us.

Jenkinsons are dedicated to doing business in a way that allows our customers, the communities we work in, our staff, and our planet to thrive.

We are committed to a sustainable future and ensuring the products
and services we supply are designed, built, and managed in a way that enhances their value to society and our environment.

Our approach is grounded in our long trading history and our legacy ethos of doing business in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.

Over the past years, we have been working hard to ensure our business does all it can to protect the planet and make a positive impact on our customers local communities as well as our own.

For this reason, we have made a commitment to halve our greenhouse gas emissions before 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

NET Zero.

We have already identified that our pathway to net zero carbon will be achieved by:

Scope 1 emissions
The largest contributor is our company car and delivery
vehicle fleet. All our company cars are now hybrid and we
commit to all delivery vehicles to be hybrid by 2040.

Scope 2 emissions
The electricity required to run our facilities is the largest
contributor of CO2 emissions in our operation, accounting
for about 53 per cent of our carbon footprint.
We are committed to cutting emissions related to energy
use by 25 per cent by the end of 2024. We have recently
negotiated renewable energy tariffs for our business and
have committed to the installation of solar panels on the
roof of our warehouse in Knowsley.

Scope 3 emissions
We will map our emissions footprint across our supplier
base to understand how much we control and identify
hotspots. We will partner with our suppliers to help them
decarbonise.

Improving the Environment.

To complement our commitment to net zero, we have already implemented many green initiatives.

  1. Zero Waste - We have implemented a zero use packaging policy across our operations, defining our recycling initiatives, and ensuring zero waste-to landfill across our supply chain.
  2. Circular Economy - Closed loop recycling. All waste is re-purposed and each piece of material used in the make up of products can be recycled and used in new furniture production.
  3. Bulk Pack - We have initiated bulk pack deliveries of desktops. They are received into our warehouse as a palletised delivery with no packaging other than the pallet. The pallet is then returned to be reused.
  4. Reuse - We actively encourage our customers to reuse their existing furniture wherever possible. This reduces waste and the need to purchase new furniture
  5. Minimise CO2 Emissions - We have invested in sophisticated fleet management software to monitor and minimise our CO2 emissions and consumption of fuel.
  6. Sustainable supply chain - 86% of our suppliers are located within 45 miles of our Knowsley Head Office. This supports SME’s and UK manufacturers as and reduces carbon emissions.
  7. Waste Site Survey - Offered to our customers to ensure that every single item that can be recycled or reused is identified so that the risk of some items being unintentionally sent to landfill is totally mitigated.
