Social Values

Creating Positive Impact Together

At Jenkinsons, creating social value is part of how we operate as a business. Alongside delivering office interiors, office furniture and workplace solutions across the UK, we believe we have a responsibility to support our people, strengthen local communities and reduce our environmental impact.

Through volunteering, charitable partnerships, education, inclusive employment and furniture reuse, we aim to create positive, measurable outcomes that benefit the communities we work with.

Whether we're delivering an office fit out, office refurbishment or workplace furniture project, we strive to leave a lasting impact that extends beyond the workplace.

Supporting Local Communities

Supporting local communities has always been an important part of our business. We work with charities, schools, community organisations and customers to create opportunities, improve local spaces and support people who need it most.

By building long-term relationships with community partners, we help deliver meaningful social value alongside every project.

Charity Partnerships

We are proud to support Central Youth Club Liverpool, helping provide young people with a safe, welcoming environment where they can build confidence, develop new skills and access positive opportunities.

Where appropriate, we also support charities, schools and community organisations by donating quality surplus office furniture. Through our Furniture Donation Hub, organisations can access furniture that still has plenty of life left, helping reduce waste while creating functional spaces for the people they support.

Alongside this, we support many of our customers' chosen charities through fundraising, volunteering and community initiatives, helping deliver positive outcomes where they are needed most.

Employee Volunteering

Our employees play an active role in supporting local communities.

Since introducing two weeks' paid volunteering leave in 2018, our team has contributed thousands of hours to worthwhile causes across the region.

Our volunteering includes:

· 1,900+ volunteering hours

· 900 hours supporting supermarket food collections and community initiatives

· Ongoing support for food banks, community centres, environmental projects and social enterprises

Through our volunteering in our communities’ programme, employees are encouraged to support causes that matter to them, helping strengthen the communities where we live and work.

Education and Skills Development

Investing in future generations is an important part of our social value commitment.

Working alongside our manufacturing partners, we host education days for school and college leavers, providing valuable insight into manufacturing, workplace environments and career opportunities.

These experiences help young people develop confidence, broaden their aspirations and gain practical knowledge that supports future employment.

Furniture Donations and Reuse

Giving office furniture a second life benefits both communities and the environment.

Where suitable, we donate surplus office furniture and equipment to charities, schools, community groups and social enterprises, helping organisations create practical, welcoming spaces while reducing unnecessary waste.

Reusing quality furniture supports a more sustainable approach to workplace design and helps keep valuable resources in use for longer.

Inclusive Employment

Creating employment opportunities for people from all backgrounds is an important part of our business.

Working with organisations including Veterans HQ, Changing Lives Halton and other employability partners, we provide work experience and pathways into employment for people who may face barriers to work.

Our programmes support:

· Young people not in education, employment or training (NEET)

· Veterans

· Care leavers

· People returning to employment after challenging circumstances

By creating opportunities for a wider range of people, we help build stronger teams and more inclusive communities.

Investing in Our People

Supporting our employees is central to our long-term success. We are committed to creating a workplace where people feel valued, supported and able to develop rewarding careers.

Real Living Wage Employer

As an accredited Real Living Wage Employer, we believe everyone should receive fair pay that reflects the real cost of living.

Providing fair wages supports financial wellbeing and demonstrates our commitment to responsible employment practices.

Fair Employment

Jenkinsons is proud to be a member of both the Liverpool City Region Fair Employment Charter and the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter.

These memberships demonstrate our commitment to fair, inclusive and responsible employment while maintaining high standards across our business.

Diversity and Inclusion

We are committed to building a diverse workforce by working with organisations that support veterans, care leavers, people with disabilities and other underrepresented groups.

Creating an inclusive workplace encourages different perspectives, supports professional development and ensures everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

Employee Wellbeing

Looking after our people goes beyond the workplace.

We promote positive mental health through wellbeing initiatives, employee support and mental health awareness training, helping create a healthy working environment where employees can thrive both personally and professionally.

Social Value Across Every Project

Social value is considered throughout every office fit out, office refurbishment and workplace furniture project we deliver.

Whether supporting local charities, investing in our employees, encouraging furniture reuse or helping customers achieve their own social value commitments, we work to create positive outcomes that benefit people, communities and the environment.

By combining over 100 years of experience with responsible business practices, Jenkinsons continues to deliver workplace solutions that provide lasting social, environmental and economic value.

Conclusion

Creating social value means more than supporting good causes. It involves investing in people, strengthening communities, promoting sustainable practices and creating opportunities that make a lasting difference.

At Jenkinsons, social value is embedded throughout our business. From volunteering and education to inclusive employment and furniture reuse, we remain committed to helping organisations create workplaces that deliver positive impact alongside commercial success.
